چکیده

The susceptibility to hydrogen absorption and hydrogen thermal desorption of titanium alloys has been investigated in a neutral 2.0% NaF solution at 37 C under various applied cathodic potentials. Ti-0.2Pd, Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-11.3Mo-6.6Zr-4.3Sn alloys absorb hydrogen under less noble potentials than 1:5V, 1:9V and 1:4V versus a saturated calomel electrode, respectively. The amounts of absorbed hydrogen of Ti-0.2Pd, Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-11.3Mo-6.6Zr-4.3Sn alloys under an applied potential of 2:0V for 24 h are approximately 1200, 100 and 1100mass ppm, respectively. Upon immersion in the 2.0% NaF solution under an applied potential, the hydrogen thermal desorption behavior of Ti-0.2Pd alloy differs from those immersed in acid fluoride solutions, whereas the hydrogen thermal desorption behaviors of Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-11.3Mo-6.6Zr-4.3Sn alloys are similar to those immersed in acid fluoride solutions. The present results indicate that in a neutral fluoride solution, the effects of an applied potential on the hydrogen absorption and desorption behaviors of Ti-6Al-4V alloy are considerably smaller than those of commercial pure titanium reported previously, Ti-0.2Pd and Ti-11.3Mo-6.6Zr-4.3Sn alloys. EFFECT OF MISH METAL TYPE ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND ABSORPTION/DESORPTION CHARACTERISTICS OF MMNI5 HYDROGEN STORAGE ALLOY

In this article, the effects of Pr and Nd were investigated on the microstructure and absorption/desorption characteristics of MmNi5 hydrogen storage alloy. The alloys were prepared in Vacuum induction furnace and the microstructures and phases were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Hydrogen absorp...

Discoloration of titanium alloy in acidic saline solutions with peroxide.

The objective of this study was to compare corrosion behavior in several titanium alloys with immersion in acidulated saline solutions containing hydrogen peroxide. Seven types of titanium alloy were immersed in saline solutions with varying levels of pH and hydrogen peroxide content, and resulting differences in color and release of metallic elements determined in each alloy. Some alloys were ...

Discoloration and Dissolution of Titanium Peroxide - or Fluoride - containing Solutionsand Titanium Alloys withImmersion in

fluoride-containing solutien. Commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) and six titanium-based alloys were used: Ti-O.15Pd, Ti6Al-4V, Ti-7Nb-6Al, Ti-55Ni, Ti-10Cu, and Ti-20Cr. Two test solutions were prepared fbr immersion of polished titanium and titanium alloys: one consisting of O,2% NaF + O,9% NaCl (pH 3.8 with lactic acid) and the other of O.1 mol/1 H202 + O.9% NaCl (pH 5.5). Following immersion...

Suppression of fluoride-induced corrosion of titanium by albumin in oral modified environment.

Although fluoride induces corrosion in titanium in an oral environment, the influence of protein on this corrosion remains to be clarified. The objective of this study was to investigate suppression of fluoride-induced corrosion of titanium where albumin was either present in a solution or where albumin was preadsorbed on titanium. Titanium dissolution in titanium specimens and surface characte...

Changes in crystallographic orientation of thin foils of palladium and palladium alloys after the absorption of hydrogen

The adsorption/absorption of hydrogen at room temperature by palladium, 16% silver-palladium and 5% ruthenium-palladium foils was studied using thermal desorption spectroscopy. Hydrogen readily diffused in the palladium and desorbed as one broad peak at about 650 K. Hydrogen also diffuses in the 16% silver-palladium foil and in the 5% rutheniumpalladium foil but with a smaller diffusion constan...
